Beaver working on dam Beaver: A semiaquatic mammal noted for the building of dams, and the cutting down of trees with its front teeth.  The broad, flat, scaly tail serves as a warning signal when slapped against the water, as a support when the beaver is standing, and as a rudder while swimming.
Loon on nest Loon: Because their legs are placed far back on the body, loons cannot walk.  They therefore place their nests along the shores of lakes or in marshes and swamps, where they can slide directly into the water.  Their ability for sustained stay underwater and their call is legendary.
