White Pines by: Sandra and Bernd Augustin
White Pines As Ontario's provincial tree, the White Pine has a lot of historical significance.  Many communities in the Algonquin area developed specifically because of logging practices.  Today, the White Pine is a common sight in Algonquin Park, although the giants of yesteryear are rare.  You will see these trees on rocky lakeshores or islands.  This particular picture was taken on Kioshkokwi Lake.
